Via Flaminia

The Via Flaminia, which crosses the Furlo Gorge at this point, was built around 220 BC at the behest of Gaius Flaminius, as a connection between Rome and Ariminum (Rimini). It comprises two tunnels, one long and one small, both dug by hand with chisels.

La Golena Park

La Golena, is a large public park lying at the foot of the Paganuccio and Pietralata mountains, in the Furlo gorge. It is the ideal place to relax, sunbathe, take a walk along the banks of the Candigliano river or have a nice picnic.

Furlo Dam

The dam was built between 1918 and 1922 where there was a natural waterfall 10 metres high.

Abbey of San Vincenzo al Furlo

The abbey dedicated to Saint Vincent, bishop of Bevagna, has origins between the 6th and 10th centuries. The church features frescoes from the Marche region, a gabled façade and a mixed roof. The raised presbytery leads to the 10th-century crypt, supported by columns of varying workmanship.

Urbino

UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, home of the famous painter Raphael Sanzio and cradle of the Italian Renaissance. There are two typical products you absolutely must try: crescia sfogliata and casciotta DOP.

Frasassi Caves

The Frasassi Caves, discovered in 1971, are karstic caves in the municipality of Genga, Ancona. Famous for spectacular limestone formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, the complex can be visited in a 70-minute tour.

Valadier Temple

The Valadier Temple, built in 1828 in Genga, Marche, to a design by architect Giuseppe Valadier at the behest of Pope Leo XII, is a neoclassical travertine marble building with an octagonal floor plan. Located in a rock cavity in the Gola Rossa e di Frasassi Natural Park, it is characterised by a lead-covered dome that touches the rock above.

Gubbio

It is known as the ‘city of stone’ and stands on the flank of Mount Ingino: Gubbio will win you over at first sight with its medieval charm to be discovered in its labyrinth of alleys and narrow streets.

Perugia

Perugia, the capital of Umbria, is a city of art situated on a hill in the Tiber valley. With the appearance of a fortified medieval town, it boasts a rich cultural offer and important museums, as well as being surrounded by beautiful nature. Also famous for its chocolate production, it hosts the Eurochocolate, a well-known festival dedicated to this delicacy.
